Scholar.
Terri is a third-year PhD student studying Political Science at the University of Chicago. Her main areas of research include: Black politics, social movements, and queer theory. Her current research focuses on political praxes used within contemporary Black-led social movements and the ways in which activists navigate and resist against the state. She is an APSA Minority Fellow and holds a B.A. in Political Science from Louisiana State University and a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Chicago.
Educator.
Terri has served as a teaching assistant in the Department of Political Science for various courses in American Politics. In Spring 2021, she will be teaching a stand-alone seminar-style course that focuses on the praxis of Black Queer Feminism in contemporary politics.
Advocate.
Terri has a history of community-based and public-facing work. She has been a member of several grass-roots organizations, has served on university diversity boards, and served as a higher education intern for diversity and inclusion. Currently, she is a pre-doctoral scholar with the GenForward Survey where she has helped to pilot the Data Liberation Project — an effort to strengthen connections between academia and activist spaces through data bridging.
